The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the Beautiful has amounted to so much success mostly in part to its base of veterans as well as its fresh and young counterparts. The Bold and the Beautiful offers viewers a different approach to soap operas as it is in a 30-minute format as well as offering it in Spanish. The Bold and the Beautiful is one of the younger running soap operas and it has surely surpassed some of its older counterparts. This is due to the creativity of the writers and the realism of the acting. No other soap of its kind has achieved the type of success that the Bold and the Beautiful has. Susan Flannery, who played Stephanie, is one of those long-term veterans who have been playing the same character for over 20 years. Flannery has proved top be a top-notch soap opera actress as she is a golden globe actress and four-time winner Daytime Emmy award winner. Flannery also played Dr. Laura Spencer Horton on the Young and the Restless from 1966 until 1975. She took a break from the soap scene until 1987 where she started her stint on the Bold and the Beautiful back on the CBS network. Another fellow longtime Bold and the Beautiful veteran is John McCook who played Flannery’s on screen husband, Eric Foster. McCook, like Flannery, also starred on The Young and the Restless, from 1975 until 1980. McCook is an Daytime Emmy nominated actor and has played Eric Forrester for over 20 years as well. Katherine Kelly Lang played Brooke Logan Forrester for 20 years as well. Her character on the Bold and the Beautiful also had cross over’s with The Young and the Restless for some time as well. The last long time veteran of the Bold and the Beautiful, Ron Moss, played the part of Ridge Forrester. Moss actually got his start in the entertainment industry by playing in a rock and roll band Player. However, Moss was offered the part of Ridge Foster and stuck with that ever since. The Bold and the Beautiful has also had made famous alumni of the show pass through such as Bob Barker, Usher, Fabio, Michael Clark Duncan, and Betty White. Some of these entertainers doubled as musicians on the show, which helped to attract and maintain a younger audience. Overall, Bold and the Beautiful has enjoyed tremendous success especially with having a base of very talented veterans to carry on the underlying story lines of the show as well as the addition of new and young talent.
